The central farm ,aralam farm was established in 1971, by the State farms of india(SFCI),a goverment of india undertaking ,with assistance of erstwhile "USSR",which owned a group of farms with the main objective of providing quality planting materials of commercial crops.In 2004, the farm was taken over by the government of kerala from the central government under a tripartite agreement to which the government of india ,government of kerala and SFCI were parties.Under the agreement the government of kera is obliged to maintain half of the farm as a farm and the remaining half is distributed to the landless tribal population .In the year 2010, a company was incorporated to take over the 1500 hectares of the farm area and the government of kerala hold the entire share capital of the company.The ARALAM FARM is committed to contribute to the environment and to the conservation of natural resources around .Improvement of the standard of living of local population ,particularly the tribal community setteled in the tribal resettlement area,is an objective towards which the farm is directing its energy.The farm is also stiving its best to make the ARALAM FARM a popular destination for tourists across the country and from the outside world because of its scenic beauty,moderate climate and geography that offers opportunities for adventure and recreation.Nestled in the tourist hub of Waynad,the ARALAM FARM has plans for making it a destination for both eco tourism and farm tourism at a most affordable cost.
